Let’s Celebrate The Women Of WordPress Together!

Welcome to the only newsletter in WordPress by women, for women, and about women.

This Issue's Wonder Woman: Sumaia Aktar

Portrait of Sumaia Aktar - woman with a pleasant smile with kind eyes; wearing a dark purple headscarf.

I’m Sumaia Aktar, a Full‑Stack Software Developer specializing in Laravel and Vue.js with 7 years of experience building scalable web applications and SaaS platforms. I’ve contributed to the Laravel core, developed production‑ready integrations (including DocuSign, Testlify, and HackerRank), and built products that solve real business problems. I’m passionate about clean architecture, continuous learning, and making technology accessible to more people.

What is your mantra?

“Build with purpose, code with clarity.” I believe software should solve real problems, be easy to maintain, and empower its users — not just be technically clever.

Tell us 3-5 tech tools that you swear by that make life & work a little easier.

I rely on Augment for smarter documentation and insights, Claude for deep brainstorming and reasoning, PHPStorm as my main IDE for Laravel development, Git & GitHub for version control and collaboration, and Docker to standardize dev environments.

What's in your mug/glass/bottle during work hours?

Usually black coffee and water — coffee helps me stay focused and water keeps me hydrated throughout long coding sessions.

What's in your mug/glass/bottle after hours?

After work, you’ll usually find me with a refreshing glass of cold lemon water or herbal tea in hand — something calming to unwind with after a long day of coding.

Knowing what you do now, what advice would you give to your younger self?

Start building sooner, stop worrying about perfection, and embrace failure as part of the learning process.
Many lessons come faster when you ship early and refine through real feedback instead of waiting for everything to be “perfect.”
