Let’s Celebrate The Women Of WordPress Together!

Welcome to the only newsletter in WordPress by women, for women, and about women.

This Issue's Wonder Woman: Natalie MacLees

Portrait of Natalie Maclees, a smiling woman with short blonde hair, wearing a pink shirt under a white jacket.

Natalie has been in the WordPress world since 2007 and has 25+ years of accessibility expertise. She's the Founder of AAArdvark, an accessibility audit platform, and COO at NSquared, where she and business partner Nathan build WordPress plugins like Simply Schedule Appointments and Draw Attention. She runs AAArdvark Circle for developers learning accessibility and believes in progress over perfection - always.

What is your mantra?

Progress over perfection. It's what I teach in accessibility, but as a recovering perfectionist, it's also what I tell myself daily. You can't run two companies, create content, and lead a team if you're waiting for perfect.

Tell us 3-5 tech tools that you swear by that make life & work a little easier.

AAArdvark (yes, my own tool. I use it daily!), ViOLET - my custom second brain app built with Claude Code, and Asana to keep the trains running on time.

What's in your mug/glass/bottle during work hours?

Tea or water

What's in your mug/glass/bottle after hours?

Water or herbal tea - no caffeine after hours!

Knowing what you do now, what advice would you give to your younger self?

Don't let fear talk you out of the thing you've dreamed about since childhood. The leap is never as scary as the waiting. Start the business. Future you will only wish you'd done it sooner.
