This Issue's Wonder Woman: Linnea Huxford

Hi, I’m Linnea Huxford, Principal Software Architect at Alley. I build and scale enterprise WordPress sites with our Laravel-inspired Mantle framework (which is open source—check it out!). A self-taught developer turned WordPress advocate, I’ve spoken at WordCamp on handling massive traffic. Beyond code, I love teaching and writing. I talk about LADA Diabetes on YouTube, write books, and explore science and mushrooms—a passion sparked by my mycologist Grandma.

What is your mantra?

"Take it easy." This is something multiple people have told me, including a complete stranger. I've decided to own it :)

Tell us 3-5 tech tools that you swear by that make life & work a little easier.

Todoist. Klaviyo for email marketing. I have a love/hate relationship with ChatGPT and AI in general. I love AI that makes me more productive, but I also think the greatest opportunity of these AI times is to stand out by being authentic, unique and divergent. I like real human creativity.

What's in your mug/glass/bottle during work hours?

Mushroom coffee. Right now I'm making my own by adding a Reishi tincture. Lion's Mane is also a mushroom I have frequently. It's great for that extra sharp mental edge.

What's in your mug/glass/bottle after hours?

Chamomile tea for winding down... Or any kind of herbal tea.

Knowing what you do now, what advice would you give to your younger self?

Two things:
1. Read another book. In high school, I gave up on programming. It was just a bad book.
2. Do more. Stay busy intellectually. Always keep learning new things. It really helps with mental health.
