Let’s Celebrate The Women Of WordPress Together!

Welcome to the only newsletter in WordPress by women, for women, and about women.

This Issue's Wonder Woman: Carrie Smaha

Portrait of Carrie Smaha - woman with short curly red hair, bright smile and wearing a colorful scarf tied around her neck.

Carrie Smaha is a multimedia-trained marketer with a background in audio/video production, graphic design, modern art, and programming. At InMotion Hosting, she leads marketing operations hands-on, following the funnel end-to-end through the code, the SEO, the integrations, and the tech stack that ties it all together. She loves the WordPress community, attends conferences, and genuinely enjoys the people building it. When she's not at a keyboard, she's telling jokes or catching live music.

What is your mantra?

My superpower is being ahead of the curve. The curve always catches up eventually, and I'll be there with snacks — and a gentle reminder that I told you so.

Tell us 3-5 tech tools that you swear by that make life & work a little easier.

Google Calendar: if it's not on the calendar, it's not happening.
Claude: strategy, content, design mockups, and code.
Amazon Music: always building playlists to stay in the zone.
Google Sheets: pivot tables are my love language.

What's in your mug/glass/bottle during work hours?

Coffee to start, water all day, tea when I need a reset, and peach kombucha when I want something that feels like a treat but keeps me functional. Hydration is a marketing strategy.

What's in your mug/glass/bottle after hours?

Peach White Claw, because Claw is Law. Or a chilled glass of rosé or lavender wine when I want to feel fancy. Either way, it's well earned.

Knowing what you do now, what advice would you give to your younger self?

You never needed permission — you earned it. Your attention to detail is your secret weapon. Keep trusting those instincts; they were right. And keep watching, listening. That's why you always know when to pivot before anyone else does.
